30 Day Shred. WTF was I thinking?

Day 5
2.17.14

I'm a slacker.  It snowed here. All fucking day.  Seriously.  We got something like 7 inches.  And I had an extra tween until noon.  I decided that I would do day 4 this evening.  Then, hubby came home and we realized that it was very necessary to shovel out the front walk and the path for the garbage can.  So there was no workout today.  There was about an hour of snow moving, so I got some cardio, but no real workout.  We'll see how my back and elbow feel tomorrow morning.  The plan is to do Level 1 Day 4 tomorrow after the Things go to school.

Day 4
2.16.14

I injured my elbow.  I think I over extended it so I took it easy on Sunday.  I was going to go to Pole class but decided to take a full rest day.

Level 1 Day 3
2.15.14

Holy Hell!  My abs are killing me!   Sneezing hurts.  The cardio was a little tough for some reason today.   Strength was as fine as it could be.   The ab work killed me.  They are screaming at me.   To make it "worse" that pole dancing class that I talked about, the Groupon I have is about to expire and the classes I go to are beginner level drop in classes.   They fill up very fast and you have to put your name on a wait list.   If someone cancels, they call from the wait list.   I got called for tomorrow's class.   This should be interesting.   Check back tomorrow.

Level 1 Day 2
2.14.14

Okay.  I wasn't as sore as I thought I'd be which was good because I was able to push myself a little harder and do 99% of the video.   The cardio was still rough, but I did almost all of it.   The strength I had to modify a little.

I started with 3 pound weights which are fine for the chest flies and bicep curls, but the arm raises I had to drop the weights all together.   My shoulders just couldn't do it.

The ab work still hurts.  She calls that knot of pain "fear leaving the body".  I usually tell her to fuck off.

I looked at the pictures of my ass again today and I can't wait for it to be gone!

Day 3 here I come!

Level 1 Day 1
2.13.14

I'm fat.  I know I'm fat.  I know why I'm fat.  I like food.  No.  I really like food.  And I'm lazy.  Really lazy.  I have a fitbit.  I don't use it much.  I used to.  Not so much anymore.  I will sit down in the morning with a cup of coffee and something to eat and watch the news.  When my breakfast is gone, I pick up my knitting.  the only time I get off my lazy ass is to go to the bathroom or to get something to snack on.  I don't deny or try to hide any of this.

There is one question you're never supposed to ask a woman.  No two questions.  Her age and her weight.  I will tell you both.  I am 35 and I weigh 200 pounds.  Yes, you read that right, I weigh 200 pounds and I just put it on the interwebs.  Do I like that I weigh 200 pounds?  Eh.  I'm not happy with it but I'm too lazy to do anything about it.  Or am I?

Back in November-ish I saw a Groupon for a Pole Dancing class, and I bought it.  Being the procrastinator that I am, I waited until the last minute to use it.  I have been to 3 classes and let me tell you!  I have a completely new respect for Strippers!  My body ached in places I didn't know could ache for damn near a week!  The classes are very popular and I go on a drop in basis (that's what the Groupon was for 6 drop-ins) and I'm wait listed.  Meaning they call me when someone cancels.  I have absolutely no rhythm and I can't dance, so, it's quite comical to watch myself in the wall of mirrors but, I hold my own.  I need to do more.  Most of the muscles used in pole dancing are core muscles.  Mine haven't seen the light of day through all the fat that Monster left behind 7 years ago.  Cue Facebook.

My Bestie, has a friend that sent her a link for Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred, followed by a text that said "No Excuses".  She did level 1 day 1 and posted on FB that she was sore in places she didn't know she had.  I "yelled" at her on FB, told her that she should have told me she was going to do it and that I would totally do it with her.  There is a bit of a geographical problem with that plan.  I live in Chicago, she lives in Lansing. Michigan.  So, she sends me the link, I watched it.  20 minutes. No problem, I got this.

So, this morning I get up, head to the basement and do the one thing that no woman EVER wants to do.  I hand Hubby my phone and tell him to take my before pictures.  Here I am standing in a sports bra and a pair of yoga pants.  He takes the front view, tells me to turn to the side for the profile shot.  Then, because this isn't gruesome enough, I drop my yoga pants and turn around and tell him to take a picture of my cottage cheese fat ass.  (It is taking every ounce of self control i have not to delete them all)  I take my phone and Hubby loves the fact that my phone takes multiple shots very quickly.  So, I'm looking at a dozen shots of my fat self in all of it's flabby glory trying not to cry.

So I send him back upstairs, and I start level 1 day 1.  The concept is great, no more than 2 or 3 minutes on abs, cardio, or strength.  Abs. No problem.  Strength.  I got this, remember, I have done 3 pole classes and my arms are a little bit stronger than BFF's.  Cardio.  Oh My Fucking God!  I felt like my chest was going to explode!  I was huffing and puffing after 30 seconds.  I tried to keep up and do all the cardio, but Dayum!  So to say I finished the whole 20 minutes would be a bold faced lie.

Am I sore?  A little but it's manageable.  Am I looking forward to tomorrow?  Hell Fucking No!  But, my BFF is holding me accountable and I will not let myself down.
